11 miles (roundtrip) and 3000' elevation gain. Departed Sunrise Visitor Center parking lot in the dark and raced to arrive at the top of Third Burroughs for sunrise... only to have smoke obscure most of the sunrise light. These rapidly moving cloud formations added quite a bit of interest to Rainier's summit.
